When getting an estimate for an out of state move, consider your 1st priority. Is it time of delivery or cost? It can not be both even though we all like it to be. If you re like nost people you will be looking for the best price. When an estimator comes to your house ask him if they are brokers. You do not want a company that is a broker since they have the authority to pass your goods to other companies and make it hard if not difficult for you, to find who is responsible in case of damage/loss.
Then you have to ask what kind of estimates are available.
They should be:
-binding and not to exceed (best choice. it gives you a max.price but it could be less depending on the weight)
-binding (also a good choice but if the weight of your shipment is less you still pay the estimated price.
-non binding (it s all based on how much weight you have. thiis is waht all movers like to give you since, if the weight is more than the estimator told you, the price goes up. IF THAT IS THE CASE you should not be obligated to pay more than +10% at time of delivery. You can be billed for the rest.
YOU MUST PAY ALL MOVERS BEFORE UNLOADING, OR BEFORE UNLOADING IS COMPLETED.
